Afro-Cultural Carnival
About AFRO-CULTURAL CARNIVAL

We bring people from different cultural backgrounds together.

The Liverpool Afro Cultural Carnival is a vibrant celebration of African and Caribbean culture, showcasing the rich heritage through music, dance, art, and food. Typically held annually, the event features lively parades, performances by local and international artists, and various cultural workshops. It's a platform for community engagement, promoting diversity and fostering connections among different cultural groups. The carnival not only entertains but also educates attendees about African and Caribbean traditions, making it a significant event in Liverpool's cultural calendar.

Our Mission

What we do
1. Parade: A vibrant procession showcasing traditional costumes, dance troupes, and music. Participants often represent different countries or regions, each adding their unique flair.
2. Live Music Performances: Local and international artists perform genres such as Afrobeat, reggae, dancehall, highlife, and traditional African music. This creates an energetic atmosphere and encourages audience participation.
3. Dance Workshops: Interactive sessions led by professional dancers teaching traditional dances like Afrobeat, salsa, or Caribbean dance styles. These workshops invite attendees to join in and learn new moves.
4. Cultural Storytelling: Sessions featuring storytelling by elders or performers who share traditional tales, folklore, and histories, providing cultural context and education.
5. Art and Craft Workshops: Hands-on activities where participants can create traditional crafts, learn about cultural art forms, or even participate in painting or sculpture projects that reflect African heritage.
6. Food Market: A diverse selection of food stalls offering traditional dishes from various African and Caribbean cuisines. This allows attendees to experience the flavors of different cultures.
